Odyssey House NSW’s trauma-informed services set us apart as a leader in the support service space for alcohol and other drugs dependency. Our teams help clients to meet their goals and address underlying trauma and mental health issues, while also developing new skills to improve all aspects of their lives. 

We provide a diverse range of services to individuals, families and community education. Our services include withdrawal services; one-on-one assessment and treatment by psychologists and counsellors; group therapy; residential rehabilitation; and free education at Odyssey College.

Job Description

Management of Properties

  • Coordinate and manage a small portfolio of properties.
  • Prepare maintenance plans for properties, both owned and rented, ensuring plans are adhered to. Where possible, plans should have a focus on energy and operational efficiency and safety improvements.
  • Conduct general hand duties across all sites as required.
  • Respond quickly to resolve reactive maintenance issues.
  • Assist in identifying suitable sites for office rental.
  • Negotiate leasing arrangements.

Work Health & Safety (WHS)

  • Analyse tasks, equipment, and environments for potential risks, undertaking and providing Risk Assessments, Safe Work Method Statements, Providing Chemical Register and Safety Data Sheets where required.
  • Create and update safety policies and procedures, ensuring policies comply with WHS legislation and industry standards. Advise on measures and stay informed on new industry legislation.
  • Prepare for regulatory inspections and perform WHS audits to ensure adherence to health and safety protocols.
  • Conduct staff safety briefings to raise awareness of hazards and measures.
  • Ensure compliance with notices issued under the WHS Act.
  • Establish educational and training programs focused on improving work health and safety, ensuring staff are properly informed about safety protocols and changes are clearly communicated.
  • Ensure employees use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and operate machinery safely. To maintain safety, conduct regular checks and training.
  • Plan and manage WHS programs, delegating responsibilities and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Management of Relationships

  • Negotiate with suppliers to ensure service levels introduced and maintained and costs controlled.
  • Build relationships with property agents, strata managers, employees, Odyssey management, contractors and suppliers and statutory bodies.
  • Act as the point of contact for properties both internally and externally.

Reporting

  • Update incident management system if applicable.
  • Assist in the preparation of capex and expense budgets and forecasts.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Diploma of Facilities Management equivalent qualification or experience in a similar role.
  • Work, Health and Safety training.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a multi-sited property environment. Preferably including dormitory style residential sites.
  • Preparing and managing Development Applications, and other works whilst coordinating with local councils.
  • Working with strata managers.
  • Working in the NFP sector is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Strata law in NSW.
  • Knowledge of Work, Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.

 

Other Requirements

  • Right to work in Australia.
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence.
  • Use of vehicle to attend Odyssey sites
  • Current National Police check.
  • High level skills in using MS Office Suite.
  • Current Working with Children Clearance.
  • COVID Vaccinated
  • On call work may be required.
  • Able to work flexible hours on occasion when required to enable contractors to access sites or to address urgent maintenance issues
